With the new web presence, the websites of several institutions are consolidated and integrated into a headless Drupal platform.

Careum has come together: The individual websites of four different Careum institutions have been consolidated onto one platform, allowing users to seamlessly discover the Careum world.

A single platform for all Careum institutions

Careum is committed to improving the healthcare world by educating the professionals of tomorrow, facilitating networking among key players, and promoting innovations. Established as a foundation in 1882, Careum comprises several institutions: Careum Publishing and the Center for Health Competence, which are part of the foundation alongside central functions. Additionally, the subsidiaries Careum Education Center, Careum University of Applied Health Sciences, Careum Continuing Education, and Edubase offer educational programs.

The central website covers traditional corporate content and news, as well as the offerings of the Careum Education Center, Careum Publishing, and Careum Continuing Education. All offerings can be purchased or booked directly through the platform.

Attractive Content Design

The website impresses with an attractive content design. Around 20 content modules allow editors many options to meet their needs and help overcome various content challenges. These include interactive graphics, content presentation along a timeline, as well as animations and videos.

The use of images, a generous design with ample white space, combined with a clearly structured layout, ensure that users never feel overwhelmed by the content, despite the extensive texts.

Platform with Commercial Functions

  • > 600

The Careum Publishing shop includes over 600 teaching materials in 3 languages.

  • 300+

Careum Continuing Education offers over 300 webinars, courses, modules, and programs.

  • 3+5

Three vocational trainings, two of which lead to a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ), as well as five training programs at the higher vocational school, can be completed at the Careum Education Center.

With the website, Careum pursues commercial goals. In addition to selling teaching materials, users can directly book continuing education offers. Those interested in vocational training or education at the higher vocational school can register directly for the corresponding information events.

All offers are seamlessly connected to the corresponding subsystems. For the publishing shop, we use Shopware 6 as the e-commerce platform, which is in turn connected to the publishing software Phiatos. Offers and registrations in the continuing education sector are directly synchronized with the training software Tocco. For registrations for information events, the CRM Brevo is integrated.

Headless Architecture

The website is implemented with a headless architecture. This allowed for connecting various systems to a single frontend, resulting in a seamless experience despite the different subsystems operating in the background.

Drupal was chosen as the CMS system for managing website content. Shopware is integrated as the e-commerce platform, which is connected to the publishing software Phiatos via an interface for the product catalog and orders. The continuing education offerings are imported into Drupal from Tocco, with course and program registrations handled directly through the frontend. Registrations for information events are processed via an API directly into the CRM Brevo.

The website is implemented as a single-page application, based on Nuxt.js and Vue.js, and connected to the CMS via GraphQL. This allows for a smooth user experience, aligning with Careum’s modern brand presence.

The frontend application and the backend systems are operated in the Azure cloud by our DevOps team.
