Intersport.ch: All Cloud, All Realtime with Shopify and Microsoft Dynamics

Who doesn't know Intersport? As one of the world's leading retailers in sports and outdoor clothing as well as equipment, Intersport has made an outstanding name for itself. Recently, the company has been relying on Shopify as a global e-commerce platform to further expand its digital presence.

Intersport aims to optimize the online experience for its customers while leveraging the flexibility and scalability of Shopify. Dream Production supports Intersport Switzerland in developing customized solutions that meet local market demands and strengthen the company’s global strategy.

Event-based integration with Microsoft Dynamics in real-time

The central ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics, which manages all processes such as product and inventory management and order processing, was implemented for Intersport by DECS.ch. The DECS.ch team also set up the data cloud, which serves as the data foundation for the Shopify interface. Through close and successful collaboration, we integrated the entire e-commerce process landscape with a customized middleware solution between Shopify and Dynamics. From the outset, our goal was to enable seamless communication between the systems using a modern, real-time approach.

To achieve this, we implemented an event-driven architecture that allows for the near real-time exchange of all relevant information between systems, including new products and attributes, price adjustments, orders, shipping notifications, and much more.

To handle the high volume of data flows, we chose Microsoft Event Hub as the central platform for event management. This is complemented by the Microsoft Service Bus in the Azure Cloud, which acts as an intelligent queue to ensure efficient data processing so that none of the millions of events are lost.

    A specially customized Shopify theme was developed for the frontend, based on the provided design templates. This theme includes bespoke content modules precisely tailored to meet Intersport's requirements.

    Marketing processes are efficiently managed through integration with Klaviyo, enabling personalized campaigns and targeted customer communication. For customer support, Intersport relies on Gorgias, seamlessly integrated into Shopify to ensure fast, centralized support across all channels. This combination enables smooth and optimized customer service along with effective marketing management.
